Rates & Terms
ShortTermLoans.com is licensed to make loans to Illinois residents. If you reside in a state other than Illinois, and submit a loan application on our site, we will attempt to match you with a lender from an established network of lenders. That lender may have different rates and fees than we do. When they contact you, please be sure you understand their rates and fees.
Rates and Fees for Referral of Non-Illinois Residents.
Shorttermloans.com referral services are provided to you absolutely free. We do not charge you any fees for referring you to a lender in our network. Please remember that Shorttermloans.com does not make loans nor do we broker loans outside the State of Illinois and as such, we have no input in whether you are accepted or the terms of your loan. Our referral service is limited to taking the registration information and searching our network of lenders to introduce you to a lender with a loan that may suit your needs so that you can submit an application directly to that lender. For this reason, it is important that when you register, you provide accurate and complete information to us. After we have found the lender, you will be contacted directly by that lender who will inform you of your loan approval and give you the terms of the loan including the interest rates and fees that you will incur during repayment as well as the repayment period. Remember, at any time you can leave the process or reject the loan without any penalty to you.
The lenders in our network will make the following disclosures to you:
Disclosure of Terms.
Disclosure of Fair Lending Practices.
The lender will provide you with a document that discloses and outlines all of the terms of the loan offered. This disclosure includes the amount of the loan, the rates and fees that you will be charged, and the loan repayment period. It is important that you carefully review and agree with these terms before signing any loan document. If you agree to these terms, the lender will then transfer you to a page that will ask for your e-signature.
Please remember that after you have registered and been sent to a lender, we are not informed of the terms of the loan, thus, we are not responsible for any rates, fees, and other terms you are provided or agree upon. Our service is limited only to finding and introducing you to a lender. If you are not comfortable with or do not agree with the loan terms, you are under no obligation to move forward with the lender and you may exit the process at any time before you give your e-signature without any penalties.
Disclosure of Implications of Late Payments.
Each lender in our network has their own criteria and policy when it comes to late payments. This may include additional fees and interest. Before you agree to a loan, be sure you have read and understand the implications of making late payments. Also, each state has rules and regulations in place that payday lenders must follow when assessing fees for late payments.
Disclosures of Implications of Non-Payment.
If you do not make the payments on your loan, you may be responsible for additional fees and interest rates. Our lenders are required by Federal and State law to use fair practices in their collection actions for a loan that has not been repaid. You are protected by the Fair Debt Collections Act, which includes limitation on how a lender may collect an unpaid balance including:
- Not contacting you by phone before 8 am or after 9 pm.
- Not harassing you or using abusive language towards you over the phone.
- Not using deception to try to collect money from you.
- Not threatening you with legal action if it is not permitted.
Please review the laws in your State to learn more about the implications of not repaying a payday loan.
Disclosure of Renewal Policy.
Extending the repayment period for a loan may result in additional interest paid, as well as other fees, which can greatly increase the total amount you pay back on a loan. State laws often govern loan renewal policies.
